You’re very welcome! đđđđ

May I please request headcanons of chocobros reacting when they find out there s/o is super smart (like zero effort, no studying, and they still ace tests with flying colors) and there s/o is super indifferent about it because of a tough upbringing by there parents to be “perfect”? Please and Thank you so very much.
Ended up being kind of meh. ._. I really have trouble with headcanons I think. Anyhow, set during the boyâs highschool days.
Noctis:Â
Perhaps he should have studied heâd think when seeing his grades. Ignis would not be pleased, and when his father heard about this, Ignis would make sure that he would, he just knew he was in for a lecture. He took comfort in the fact that his S/O didnât study for any of this as well, and probably had the sameâŚWait, those were DEFINITELY NOT the same grades.
Heâd grab the paper in their hand and scan it again, just to be sure that he wasnât seeing things. Holy SIX how did they manage their grade point average when they didnât do anything just like him? Heâd ask them what was with their grades and theyâd just shrug, a blank expression on their face.
Heâd keep pestering them about it, because heâs a little on the panicky side about his own grades. Theyâd eventually admit that theyâd assumed that he was in the same boat as them. Heâd ask what that was and theyâd just say pressure. Eventually, theyâd finally give in to his questions.
âHonestly, that âBâ would have gotten me grounded as a child.â Theyâd start, and heâd fall silent as they described how they had been forced into a mold by their parents. Theyâd describe how they grew up needing to succeed, and were still terrified of failing. Heâd comfort them as best as he could, but theyâd act distant about it.
âItâs fine Noct, itâs in the past.âÂ
Heâd let it go then, and wouldnât push. And suddenly heâd see the coming lecture in a different light and take his own grade more seriously.
Prompto:
Discipline is his middle name. Once he sets his mind to something, heâd achieve his goals through hard work and determination! But it was seriously starting to get to him to have his S/O literally NAPPING while he studied, and still get better grades than him.Â
So he asks their secret one day, and they, oddly enough, just smile and say, âA gift from my parents really.â
He wouldnât get what they meant until one day heâd be passing by a classroom with them and their parents meeting with the teachers about a low B they had gotten. There were no raised voices, or even anger really. But justâŚresounding disappointment from their parentâs voices, and he could almost hear how defeated his S/O was when his parents asked the teacher to assign them extra work to offset the B.Â
From then on, he endeavors to get better grades, and then better grades than his S/O so he could help them with their homework. He understands that while they donât really care about their grades, they donât want to disappoint their parents. And that their motivation to do anything to do with school had shut down as a result of the stress.Â
Gladio;Â
Heâd wonder why they were stressing so much about the test tomorrow. Like to the point where they, one of the most active people he knows, was sitting motionless on his couch. They always got EXCEPTIONAL grades. Like, Ignis would be jealous(And was sometimes). He was bumbling about the rest of the house, trying to figure out just how to get them back to normal somewhat, but nothing would work. Heâd finally just flat out ask them what was wrong.
Theyâd say something about being scared of failing the test. And heâd be so confused, and just remind them as best he could that they had the BEST grades in their class, academically speaking. (He wasnât always so good with people.) Theyâd agree with him, but you could tell they wouldnât mean it.Â
It wouldnât be until after their test, when they met their parents after school and handed them their 98% grade, an upper A by all means, and their parents asked why they hadnât gotten a 100%, that heâd understand their stress. Heâd be so freaking lost and basically make it a habit to kidnap them the day after tests to help them destress, comfort them, and remind them just HOW SMART they were.Â
Ignis:
Ignis would be the same way actually. Heâd be one of those weird people, whoâd just look at a paper, or equations, or reading passages, and just remember them. Due to his upbringing, heâd had to learn just how to be one of these people. So honestly, heâd be the most understanding of his S/Oâs position.
Like, they both would be really low key about it too. Heâd just one day notice that, hey, neither of us study. And we have to fight for the top spot in the class anyways. So, somehow, he decides to turn this into a game, to take the edge off of the stress and anxiety they both feel about their grades.
Whoeverâs top of the class this month getâs a prize. And the prizes would range from silly to sweet things, or small to large things. A kiss from the loser to the winner. Maybe a date night planned by the loser. Maybe theyâd have to cook dinner for a week for the winner as another prize. And it would work. Theyâd both still not study, but itâd be nice to have some fun when the test would come around, giving them both that extra push theyâd need to recall more and improve their grade to their best theyâve ever been.
Now imagine their surprise when theyâre both names top student one because they both got top marks.Â

*Note: Yaâll reeeeeaaaalllly like to see Ignis suffer lately. á( á )á

Reaction/scenario with Ignis and his long time s/o when they find out that she’ll likely fall into a sort of coma soon enough that could last anywhere from weeks or months to tens of years. Maybe she tells him to go on with his life or something
owwwww
Theyâd know it was coming. Since they were children they knew. They were ill, and were not expected to recover.
Heâd always wondered what the illness was as a child, as theyâd sometimes disappear for weeks on end, and what the long term effects would be. But it wouldnât be until they were teenagers that heâd find out.
Theyâd collapsed one day while with him, and wouldnât wake. And it wouldnât be until a month later, after one of his visits to their hospital room, that their parents had taken pity on him and told him what they suffered from.Â
Itâs common name was just Sleep. In the old days, it had been something that could be inflicted on a person. Theyâd be powerless to stop it, and wouldât wake without outside help. It was rare these days though, and the remedy(ha) to it had been lost to time. Theyâd been afflicted with it, and the times it took them to wake were getting longer and longer.
So when they were adult, and heâd been through two more of their sleep attacks, they both knew that the next time…They might not wake again.
Though, year later, there were enough cases of it to have developed tests to tell when they would fall into another sleep attack. And to both of their dismay, it was soon. And itâd be longer than any before it.
Theyâd pretend everything was normal at first. Go on with their lives, ignore the elephant in the room. But then…as the date drew nearer and near theyâd be unable to pretend anymore.
âIgnis…I want you to go on without me.â Theyâd say out of the blue one day. Theyâd be sitting with each other in silence, enjoying their time together. But they wouldnât be able to hide from the truth any longer. âJust…forget the sleeping person in the hospital room, and just live your life.â
Ignis would put down what he was doing, and look them dead in the eye. Itâd be such an intense stare theyâd look away, unable to hold his gaze for long.
âNo. And donât ever say something like that again.â Heâd begin. âIâve waited for you every time youâve slept since weâve met. And Iâll keep waiting. Donât ask me to just leave you behind because weâre unsure…Because we know whatâs coming this time.â Heâd take their hand in his and just squeeze, as if afraid theyâd disappear. And in a way they were. âI care about you too much to just âmove onâ so donât ask again. Please.â
By the end his voice would have thickened with emotion, revealing the very real fact that he was just as scared as them. And theyâd end up shedding a few tears themself ask they argued their point. âThereâs no guarantee that Iâll wake this time. And just the thought of you, left in stasis waiting…It hurts. I donât want you to stop living your life for me. Iâm begging you. Please be happy.â
Itâs be a back and forth debate, one that Ignis would ultimately win. Because like hell he was just going to leave them in his past. There was no happiness without them. For the rest of that night theyâd just hold each other, waiting for the sun to come up.Â
And during the week their sleep was supposed to take them, neither of the pair slept really. Theyâd spend every moment with each other, as if frantic to make memories to keep them company while they were separated.
And one day, when theyâd fallen asleep together on their bed, he awakes. But they donât. After having a moment of bitter sadness to himself, heâd call the caretakers from the hospital, and go with them on the transport as they were moved into the hospitalâs care.Â
And heâd wait. Heâd wait and wait. Theyâd be safely a sleep, and heâd go through out his life, frequently checking on them. And even though it takes years, he waits for them to wake again. It would be the longest 5 years of his life.

Slightly drunk Iggy. (Donât let him drive!)
I imagine heâs drinking coffee-based cocktail.(Didnât have much time so just a sketch for his Birthday.)
Request please? What would happen if the reader really loves Prompto, but she gets depressed and sad when he keeps talking about Cindy and eventually just breaks down crying? D: Have a lovely night!
Reader like, second person right? First time writing this way. Here we goooo!! (Kind of short.)
Your hair is in your eyes, which you donât really mind. It helps hide your face from sight. Though, thereâs no one else around you to see you. You were also further hidden by your knees, which were drawn up to your chest and cradled your forehead. Youâre alone, sitting atop a rock away from the haven you and the boys are camped at. Why? Because you just canât stop your damn tears from falling.Â
Earlier that day, youâd all run into the blonde haired beauty by the name of Cindy, and dread had settled into your gut. She was everything someone could wish for. Her kindness was second to none. Her humor was something that drew smiles from every. And her personality ensured that she got along with everyone.
Including Prompto.Â
That damnable, chocobo haired, laid back, goofball was someone youâd held in high regard since youâd first met. And naturally, that regard evolved into feelings of a romantic nature. Which he never noticed. Even though the other teased you about your affections, the dummy never noticed. In fact, heâd make them stop so you wouldnât be embarrassed by them. Which was why you were crying right now.Â
The day had been spent listening to him in the car, while walking, during hunts, and in the camp, go on and on about Cindy. Cindy was so pretty. Cindy was kind. Do you think Cindy has a boyfriend? On and on. Like always.
You got that you werenât Cindyâs type of nice. You got that maybe your attitude wasnât always sunshine and puppies like hers. You understood that you had scars, and your body wasnât ideal. You were nothing like her. You did understand that. But was it so much to hope for Prompto to notice you despite that?
âY/n?â Someone called, âWhere are you?â
You picked up your head and turned toward the voice, and mentally cursed your luckâs horrid sense of timing. Your hand shot up to your face to scrub away at the tear trails, and you tried to sniffle quietly to clear your nose before answering.
âProm-ki? That you?â You called out his nickname. You silently congratulated yourself on being able to make your voice sound normal. âIâm up here.âÂ
You didnât bother getting to your feet, but rather crawled over to the end of the rock you were on, looking below for Prompto. His back was toward you, and he was looking around trying to find you. So you leaned down as far as you could and managed to flick the top of his head.
âYowch.â He turned quickly and looked up. âThere you are.â
You smiled down, grateful for the darkness hiding your face from him. Youâre sure that itâd be red and splotchy. And the moonlight wouldnât be your friend. So you hoped the clouds stayed while he was with you.
He began to clamber up the rock to sit next to you and you reached your hand out to steady him as he pulled himself over.Â
âOof. Howâd you even get up here?â He questioned, looking at the edge with a cautious eye.
You chucked and went back to your original spot, curling up like before. âWing and a prayer man.â
He laughed and took a spot next to you. âReally? You just winged it? What if you fell?â
Already have thanks, you thought. Instead of saying that you just shrugged. âIâve fallen from higher.â
You both then sat in silence, and you brace for what was coming.
Earlier, when camp had been set up, you had enough of hearing about Cindy. Bless her heart, but youâd had enough. Especially when he was the one saying it.Â
âIâm going to explore for a while.â You had suddenly said, getting up from your chair and turning from the haven. And even though someone called your name, you kept walking. When you had gotten out of sight of the camp, you broke out into a sprint which had lead you to this rock. Honestly, sprinting and running up the rock was how youâd gotten up there without help.
âSoooâŚâ He began, like you knew he would. âAbout earlier.âÂ
You sigh but keep silent.Â
âAre you alright? I mean, you hardly ever go off on your own. An we were worried when you didnât come back for dinner.â He nudged you with his shoulder, just to get a reaction from you.
âIâŚâ You cleared your throat. âI was justâŚi donât know. I felt like I needed to get away.â
Half true. You needed to get away from him and his fixation on Cindy really. And thinking about it was sort of making your eyes tear up again. And god damn his eyes. Now that he was closer he could see your eyes.
âH-hey! Whats wrong?â He asked, his eyes widening. Reflex kicked in and he put his arm around your shoulders. Which was as welcome as it was unwelcome.Â
âNothing.â You said, but your voice choked and you could feel the tears begin to fall again. âWould you believe Iâm just crying because I missed Ignisâ cooking tonight?â You said with a watery smile.Â
He laughed lowly, but pulled you closer. âAs much as I appreciate your sense of humor, Iâm still worried.â
âI know.â You said, âJust give me a moment.â
He nodded, but you didnât see. And true to your word, you came to the conclusion that if you didnât get your feelings off your chest, you wouldnât be able to move on.Â
âI⌠if you liked someone and they didnât notice, how would you feel?â You began, deciding to stick with your half truths. âWould you feel like something was squeezing your throat? Your chest ache? And your thoughts turn against you?â
He frowned, but answered anyways. ââŚYeah. Thatâs pretty accurate.â
âIâm guessing you donât have to guess how that feels. How I feel right now.â You continued. âIt hurts a lot. And I didnât want to drag you all into my mess at the camp. Thatâs all.â
âI donât think any of us would have minded. Weâve all felt that way Iâm sure. Hell. I feel that way sometimes even now.â He said softly, arm still around you.Â
Somehow, that statement got under your skin and gave you that last burst of courage needed to get your feelings out. You grabbed his arm and gently took it off your shoulders, lowing it back to his side before wrapping your arms around yourself again.
âYouâre talking about Cindy again right?â You said, and then continued without waiting for his answer. âYou talk about her, over and over, itâs got to be her. You saw her and there was no room left for me. Because they person I was talking about was you, you know. I like you Prompto. I have for a long time. AndâŚyou just didnât notice.â
You still couldnât look at him, and drew your arms tighter around yourself. âIâm sorry if thatâs sudden, but I justâŚif I keep it to myself I canât move on. And Iâm tired of feeling jealous and alone. You can head back to camp without me. Iâll be along after I put myself back together okay?â
It was silent, and he was still beside you. Six, you did not want his pity. You about to say as much until you felt his hand turning your face toward him, and a gentle kiss pressed against your mouth. You froze, surprised.Â
But he didnât. He moved from your mouth to your cheek, and kissed his way up to your temple before whispering by your ear, âYouâre wrong. Itâs not Cindy.â
âYou were the one who made me feel that way. When youâd talk about the others, or how you donât look at me when I feel like Iâm always staring at you, and sometimes you stare at complete strangers.â He smiled as you digested this information.
And before your brain could really finish processing what he said, you leaned forward and returned what he gave, kissing just as softly. And it felt like everything was finally coming to rest.Â
Hey put your answers in the tags I want to know more about you guys!

Iâm working on getting things done, I swear.Â
T_T Me again. I’m kinda down right now ( Life is such a devil) that’s why I ask for a request with Noctis and his s/o spending time together on valentines day. Write it as a scenario or as a headcanon. ;; By the way. Happy Valentines Day!
I hope you feel better! Happy Valentines day!Â
Noctis would be someone who would start valentines celebrations the night before. Like, heâd invite his S/O over to his apartment for dinner, a movie, and cuddling.Â
Theyâd fall asleep next to each other and take their time waking up. Like, they donât get out of bed until their stomachs growling would force them out. Which would be around 11am. (Lets face it, Noctis has never missed breakfast. So even getting out of bed this late would be a feat.)
Theyâd attempt to cook something together, but just end up ordering a lunch in. (Ignis would probably have to clean the burnt pans. Or theyâd throw them away leaving him wondering where all Noctisâ pans went.)
After that, theyâd get ready to go out for the night. They know that downtown is full of activities to do together, and though both donât really like crowds, they really donât want to just stay inside all day.
They get ready and dress up. Noctis would actually be in a nice shirt and pants, with appropriate shoes to match. They would dress to match him.
Then away theyâd go! Hand in hand and love struck expressions on their face. (Itâd be funny trying to compliment Noctis, simply because heâd be so flustered by all this already.)
Once outside, theyâd occasionally catch sight of people they know. (Like…wait when did prompto get a valentine?! Gladio too!)
Walking in the park is definitely something thatâd happen. Â Perhaps theyâd get to see a free concert in the same park.
Somehow, they get roped into a competition to have one of their hands tied to their partnerâs, and not break the string.Â
Theyâd break it in the first five minutes because they get pulled apart by the crowd. But they donât mind. So long as they find each other again.
Theyâd also end up napping in the park together. Theyâre not the only couple to do so either. A bunch of cuddlebugs in the park.
They end up running into Prompto again, with his valentine, and have a bit of a double date. they go out to dinner and a movie again. And Prompto would offer to take a few photos of them.Â
Theyâd agree and heâd get some great photos to remember this day by.Â
Theyâd part ways again and go back to his place, where heâd reveal a few gifts for them. Stuffed animals, candies, and cheesy cards.Â
Theyâd spend the rest of the time cuddling on the couch.Â
I know I commented on it already but I love that festival scenario you did for Ignis/childhood s/o! So fluffy and sweet! Would you be up for writing another part? Since it’s nearing Valentine’s Day, I was wondering if you could do a date night in Lestallum (bonus with the stalker!bros and Iris XD) complete with dancing with the street music and sentimental gifts because hey it’s their anniversary too?? Thank you so much!
Letâs see where this goes. Makes no sense, but I tried? Oops it turned into a drabblish type thing.  takes place a few days after the chocobo fest with them finally to lestallum after going on a few hunts with them to help earn some extra gil. Ignis wouldnât want them nearby when leviathan is called.
Itâd been a long trip back to Lestallum. Theyâre bone tired, and everything just seemed like it was too much and too fast. The otherâs were lucky, they thought, and had all fallen asleep leaning on each other in the back seat. And while Ignis had told them to go ahead and sleep as well, but they werenât going to leave him to face the night alone. So they stayed awake, and were currently whispering back and forth in hushed tones to keep one another awake.Â
Ignis, his exhaustion getting to him, spoke quietly. âItâll be four years tomorrow when we first started dating.â
They looked at him and smiled, their face softened from their own sleepiness. It wasnât often Ignis said such sentimental things out loud. They took it as a sign that he was truly tired, but they also relished the chance to talk about their anniversary as well.Â
âAnd weâve known each other for fourteen yesterday.â They pointed out.Â
He laughed quietly, and brought their hand up to his mouth to press a kiss to the back of their knuckles. âTruly? I canât believe I didnât realize.â
âNot many people would Ig.â They huffed in amusement and squeezed his hand very briefly, their own form of a kiss since they couldnât lean over and distract him while he drove. Then their dry sense of humor kicked in and they cheekily added, âAlso, you turned twenty-three six days ago.âÂ
They grinned at him when he snickered. âI didnât know that one,â he teased, âMaybe I need to keep you around to act as a planner for me since it appears I forget important dates all too easily.â
âOh yes. Finally, Iâm useful to the great Ignis.â They hummed in amusement. But then they returned to being semi-serious. âYou remembered my favorite day out of everything though. That counts for something.âÂ
âI enjoy my birthday too much to forget it love.â He teases and smirked at them, glancing at them briefly before returning his eyes to the road.
They ended up laughing at the quip into the night air as he drove and he sighed contently. Both then lapsed into a comfortable silence for the rest of the drive. Neither noticed the blonde haired gunnerâs eyes barely open in the backseat, with the smallest smile on his face.Â
When they pulled into Lestallum, they roused the others, and booked a few rooms for the night with minimal effort. Ordinarily, they would have all just shared a room. But Prompto managed to convince the others that they all wanted their own beds for once, and demanded more than one room. They didnât question it and readily agreed. They then took their leave to find their own way into bed after the others were taken care of.
Normally, Ignis wouldnât have caved, and they certainly wouldnât have let him cave. But they both had lost their will to fight for the night and needed a good nightâs sleep to replace it. When they finally arrived at their room, they both just collapsed into their bed next to each other, and completely checked out of waking life.Â
~
It comes as a shock to them both when they open their eyes, and itâs one in the afternoon. They struggle to shake the grips of sleep from themselves, but suddenly both snap fully awake when they realize that itâs ONE IN THE AFTERNOON.
Ignis sitâs up and starts texting the others, trying to figure out where they are. Meanwhile, his intended got out of bed and started going through their bags to find clothes for them both. Honestly, they had all the money, and hoped the boys hadnât managed to starve while they slept. And the six knew that theyâd never hear the end of them BOTH managing to over sleep.Â
While they sorted their clothes out, Ignis was furiously texting the other three, demanding to know why they hadnât woken them up. When he suddenly falls backwards onto the bed in frustration, his paramour tilts their head in concern.
âSomething wrong?â They ask, leaving the bags for later.Â
He sighed wearily and ran a hand through his hair. âTheyâve gone off on their own Iâm afraid. Much like 5 days ago.â
âWhat a bunch of meddlers.â They said fondly, returning back to their task. âWell. Honestly, the last time didnât turn out too horrible. Unless youâre having second thoughtsâŚ?â
The grinned to themself when they heard Ignis sit up in a hurry. They knew he was tired, but couldnât resist teasing him.Â
âN-no! Not at all. Far from it!â He managed to get out, blinking at them when they chuckled and looked over their shoulder at him. Then it sunk in that they were only joking and he sighed heavily once more. âThatâs not fair you know. You wake up quicker than me.â
âYes darling, I do.â They kept grinning fondly and continued, âAnd I relish every moment I can hear you stutter.âÂ
His face flushed at that and they shook their head with an amused huff. They were proud that around them, and only them, he relaxed enough to act his age. They both were relatively young, but had been forced to act so much older. It was a cherished secret that around each other they could comfortably allow themselves to be their age. And they loved this side of him as much as the master statistician he had to be around the others.Â
âWell, we best get a move on today. I doubt they thought to extend the rooms for another night, and we still have to replenish our stores of supplies, and there are a few-â Ignis kept muttering behind them, making a mental list of what needed to be done before nightfall. So they interrupted him
âTake a shower first before you start planning how the world will work today. Your hair is sticking up everywhere, and honestly, at the moment you look so put out by everything the boys will go running when they see you.âÂ
He frowned at them, got up, and rolled his eyes in mock exasperation. âYes mother.âÂ
They chuckled quietly to themself as they got to their feet, clothes picked out and in their arms, and walked over to press a kiss to Ignisâ cheek before he went to the bathroom.Â
âHappy anniversary.â They whispered next to his ear. He flushed a very pleasant shade of red in response.Â
âTo you as well.â He murmured.
But then they both stepped apart and continued with their own tasks, getting ready on their own and in a comfortable silence. It wouldnât be until sundown theyâd be ready to leave the room really.Â
Then, when leaving the room, they found a note on the door. Ignis got to it first and skimmed it. They raised a questioning eyebrow at Ignis when he sighed heavily and shook his head.Â
âThey really are meddlers.â He said, handing the note to them so they could read it too.
Their eyes scanned the page, and a laugh bubbled out of them. It was a sweet note from all three, letting them have some space for the night. Which, they apparently werenât letting Ignis back out of by taking the Regalia on a hunt while leaving the two behind.
âWell, we canât disappoint them.â They said while taking his arm in theirs and tugging him toward the entrance of the hotel. âYou know theyâre not really on a hunt. Theyâre probably lurking around.â
Ignis followed them willingly, and chuckled. âYouâre probably right. Want to check?â
They grinned at him and nodded.
~
This was becoming something of a habit.Â
Ignis and them stood by the fountain, and it looked like they were having a good time. They were both smiling and laughing. And then…
Ignisâ hand shot out and pushed them backwards lightly. Their knees hit the back of the stoneâs edge and they tipped back, and almost into the fountains waters.
âOh not again!!â They both could hear Promptoâs voice ring out from a nearby alley.
But this time, Ignisâ arm also shot out at the same time theirâs did, and caught their hand mid-fall. They stopped just short of the water, and he pulled them back upright and snickered.
âThere they are.â He stated and they threw back their head and laughed.Â
They could hear scuffling from where the voice originated from, but dared not look so they wouldnât give away that they knew they were being followed again. Truthfully, they didnât mind. Ignis was the other threeâs dear friend. And even if he and themself had been friends since childhood, of course they would worry about him being happy with them. And would want to make sure things went well between the two.Â
âThey wonât be too much of a bother I think.â They replied as they began to lead him toward the nightlife that was just starting up, âTruthfully, itâs kind of sweet of them.â
âHow so?â He asked, eyeing the people and stands they passed.
âYou do realize they want to see you happy right?â They smiled at him before pressing a kiss to his jaw. âThatâs all. Now lets just ignore them for now and have fun. Itâs not every year we have a 4th anniversary.â
âQuite right.â He said before returning their kiss with a quick peck.Â
Public affection from Ignis was rare, so they lit up with a large smile and tugged him into the crowd. They had nothing in particular planned. It was more just a stroll around Lestallum together. Which was perfect. Time with Ignis was all they wanted before he had to leave again.Â
~
âOh look Ig.â They pointed at a lone musician, playing a guitar softly and sweetly. More than one couple were dancing to the music they played. And the woman playing softly smiled as they did so.Â
Ignis smiled himself, took their hand in his, pressed a kiss to their knuckles, and then said, âWould you dance with me?â
Pink dusted their cheeks and they shrugged, offering an apologetic smile, âWe havenât in a long time. Iâm afraid Iâd probably step on your feet.â
âHumor me? I think for our anniversary Iâd like to have one dance with you.â He replied easily, tugging them along toward the rest of the dancers.
âJust do it!â They heard a muttered whisper behind them and ended up snickering. That sounded suspiciously like Noctis….
âOh alright.â They step forward willingly along with him after that, the whisper giving them the courage they needed. âI suppose it couldnât hurt.â
They fell into position easily, both having been taught as children. Though, the only one whoâd actually used their lessons in real life would be Ignis. Heâd danced a lot more often than they had. For a moment they stood with his hand on their waist and their hand on his shoulder. And then they began to move with the rest of the couples.
But it was surprisingly fluid how they remembered to move. Ignis led them of course, pulling them into a gentle and slow step. And every time he felt them hesitate in a step, a small reassuring whisper of encouragement would leave him. And soon enough, it all came back to them and both were freely moving.Â
Eventually they both ended up losing themselves in each other. The world dropped away, and it was just the two of them with the music. It was lovely, they thought, just to be here with him and sharing a memory. Soon enough they slowed to a stop along with the music, and leaned their foreheads against one anotherâs, their eyes closed and hands held together.
âI really and truly do love you.â Â He whispered to them, his eyes still closed. But at his words they opened their eyes and leaned forward, catching his mouth with theirs before closing them again.
âAnd I you.â They replied.Â
He pulled away and continued holding their hand as they walked back into the crowd. They made their way to the fountain and sat next to each other. They leaned against him, while his hand traced the lines on their palm. They sighed in contentment.Â
âIf we could just stay like this forever, I wouldnât mind.â They voiced out loud, closing their hand around his so heâd stop his tracing.
He was silent for a moment before replying, âI find…I wouldnât mind that either.â
Both left it unsaid that it wasnât possible. And they wouldnât ask that of him even if it was. This was their life. And all they could ask for was stolen and gifted moments such as this.
âI know I asked you to marry me a few days ago.â Ignis suddenly began.
âFive to be exact.â
âRight.â He cleared his throat, âBut we were missing one crucial part of our agreement.âÂ
They blinked, sitting up. Nervousness had begun to creep into his voice, so they looked at him in concern.Â
âIgnis?â
âIâve a gift for you. I know youâve already said yes, but…â He reached into his pocket. âAn anniversary gift and engagement gift.â
In the space above their laps, he opened a small box, revealing a plain black engagement ring, with golden embellishments on it.Â
âYou donât have to wear it of course…Its just…â He couldnât look directly at them, his face beginning to burn. If they were reading his face right, there was a mixture of fear and hope running wild in his mind.Â
âYou donât have to finish Ignis.â They whispered softly. âOf course Iâm going to wear it.âÂ
They reached forward and turned his face toward themself. âIâm going to wear it, and think of you all the time until we actually get married.âÂ
He met their eyes and smiled. They held out their hand and he, being the gentleman he is, slipped the ring onto their finger.
âConsider this a promise then. Of a future together someday.âÂ
âWeâve the rest of our lives dear. And Iâm willing to wait.â
They smiled and scooted closer to him, wrapping one of their arms around his waist and leaning their head against him. He in turn rested his head on top of theirs, and put and arm around their shoulder.
And there they sat, content in silence, and not daring to think about the future. Because despite his promise, they both knew it was very likely that they may not get to see it fulfilled. But this moment was enough. Theyâd grown up stealing moments of each otherâs time from their duties and responsibilities. Destiny had never placed love in their cards. So they had placed it there themselves. And moments like this were always enough.Â
They had forgotten about the nearby trio, who were currently jumping around and celebrating their friendâs good fortune of finding someone who loved him.
âWeâve been dating for four years today.â They said and he hummed in agreement.
âWeâve known each other for fourteen years as of two days ago.â
âYes?â
âYour birthday was seven days ago.âÂ
âI am aware.âÂ
He nudged the top of their head with his, as if trying to get them to the point faster.
They then smiled and said, âMy birthday is at the end of the month.â
He finally began to catch on and grinned. âWe were engaged five days ago.âÂ
âYou do realize we have to have a wedding in this same month right?â
âIn order to keep with the trend…â He laughed, âI suppose youâre right.âÂ
They laughed with him, and then they both went silent, enjoying the night air in peace.Â

Bonus:
âThe boys are going to hate us.â Ignis said after 30 minutes of silence.
âYes. But theyâll still love us all the same too.â They replied, their eyes still closed, knowing what he was thinking.Â
âBrace yourself.â They could hear the laugh in his voice when he suddenly pulled them backwards with him into the fountainâs waters, ruining the seriousness of the moment.Â
âOH COME ON!âÂ
