Noctis:
- At the sound of Ardyn chiding his S/O over their choice of
companion, he nearly spins on heel and stomps back over to where they are. He gets as far as whirling around, but then
freezes. - The look of fatherly concern on Ardyn’s face jars him.
Deeply. His father would wear that same expression when chiding him. - It worries him when his S/O doesn’t pick up on it. He knows
they’re not the most attentive person in the world, but even he thinks they
should have picked up on something so…strange. - He has to stop himself from darting over and pushing Ardyns
hands off of their head when he reaches out to stroke their hair. Like one
would do with a small child. - When Ardyn then says that they deserve better than him, he
feels a bit offended and finally stomps over to confront the older man. - That seems to snap Ardyn out of whatever came over him, and
he takes a step back from his S/O. If noctis wasn’t mistaken, that was
confusion on his face. - When Ardyn apologies, casts one last torn look at his S/O,
and leaves for the night after paying for the caravan, Noctis draws his S/O
into his arms and refuses to let go for the rest of the night. - There was something in Ardyn’s eyes that worried him. Like
he was going to take his S/O away. - Like hell he’d let that happen though.
Prompto:
- Prompto would press a kiss to his S/O’s cheek before taking
off into the nearby small store. He’d be watching through the window, and his
heart would sink at the looks of disgust Ardyn casts at the shop. - He’d wonder what the shop had ever done to Ardyn, but then
realize, when Ardyn walks over to his S/O that the look was meant for him. - The look on Ardyn’s face was one of disappointment and
anger. So naturally Prompto would set
down what he was looking at and run back to their side, or try to anyways. - He’d catch the tail end of their conversation, and feel a
bit sick when he hears Ardyn call him a thing. - “Such a THING is beneath you.” Ardyn would say.
- His S/O would be super confused, and not know how to
respond. They’d catch his eyes and subtly shake their head, a warning for him
not to come any nearer. - As if Ardyn was a danger to him.
- He’d go and get everyone else before attempting to get his
S/O out of the situation. - Ardyn would then remember himself, return to the grandiose
personality he had earlier, and then disappear from the caravan from the night. - Prompto would then, after thanking the others for their help
and asking for a moment alone, ask what made them send him away. - They’d respond that they thought the man was going to kill
them, and mention they kept calling them a different name throughout the odd
conversation. - “Almost as if…he was disappointed in me. A father
scolding a child.” - They’d sleep with one eye open that night, and watching each
other’s backs so nothing would happen. - He can’t shake that Ardyn is seeking revenge for whatever
imagined slight he had done after learning of their relationship.
Gladiolus:
- His S/O is heard arguing with the Chancellor as they return
to the caravan with their things.
- Ardyn has apparently questioned their taste in dating
partners.
- Ordinarily it wouldn’t have bothered him…if said dating
partner wasn’t himself.
- He’d let his S/O take care of it, trusting their skills to
defend them if it came down to it.
- Things would get heated when his S/O shouts, “Who I
date is none of your business, so WHAT’S IT TO YOU?!”
- Ardyn absolutely looked furious and was about to respond
something in kind, but then something snaps in his eyes, and he takes a step
back, as if realizing where he is for the first time.
- He’d apologize, something that catches everyone off guard.
“You look so much like…”
- He never finishes, turning away and disappearing into the
night.
- He asks his S/O what that was about before they go to bed,
and they shrug.
- “I think…he lost someone dear to him.” Is all
they say.
- Gladio does not question them laying their head on his chest
when they turn in for the night, even if it’s too hot out to cuddle. (It
worries him how shaken they are.)
Ignis:
- He’s a bit taken a back when Ardyn says that they could have
at least dated someone other than the royal family’s help. - THE HELP?
- He has to bite his tongue and keep his face neutral while
listening to Ardyn describe the ways such relationships were hidden from the public. - “If you’re going to have an affair with someone beneath
your station…” - He launches into the ins and outs of concealing such things.
Ignis is slighly surprised by how much he knows, but dares not let it show. - (He’s proud that his S/O is keeping their face as schooled
as his.) - When he’s finished, he looks Ignis, who has not left his
lover’s side, up and down. - “At least he’s sensible.” He states in a somewhat
approving tone. - When his back is turned, he and his S/O glance at each other
in uncertainty. Why is he so concerned? - “Thank you for the advice, Chancellor…” His S/O
starts, and establishes some distance between the two of them. "But who I date and if they’re below my
station is no one’s business, but my own.“ - "Hm… They said they same thing at your age…”
He mutters, and then takes his leave. - Both are left wondering who the “they” he
mentioned was.
